Motorized Precision was founded in Portland, Oregon, by a team of filmmakers, designers, and engineers who saw the need for a smarter approach to motion control filming. Traditional cinema robotics were complex, expensive, and difficult to use. We set out to change that.

SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES
First Breakthrough (2016)
• The first robot arrives in January 2016.
• MP partners with RED Digital Cinema and debuts Kira 1.0 at NAB 2016.
• The prototype is a major success, leading to the first commercial job: filming Anki Toys' robot commercial.
Growth & Innovation (2017-2020)
• MP expands its product line: Kira 1.0, Kira 2.0, Mia, plus track systems, turntables, and DMX effect triggers.
• In 2019, we brought motion control to the Super Bowl LIII, working with the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots to capture high-impact visuals for the biggest stage in sports.
• collaborated with GMUNK and VTProDesign on groundbreaking projects that pushed the creative limits of motion control.
• Amid the pandemic, MP saw record high rentals as productions sought solutions to reduce on-set personnel for health and safety.
• We introduced Colossus in 2021, our fastest and most powerful robot, and expanded into virtual production.
Founding & Vision (2014-2015)
In 2014 Sean Brown conceptualizes an intuitive, easy to use motion control system for filmmakers. Motorized Precision is officially founded in 2015
Game Changing Projects (2016-2017)
• Microsoft’s Surface team selects MP to create the Surface Studio launch video (October 2016), which garners 13M+ views and sets a new visual standard for tech product ads.
• MP robots are used in Thor: Ragnarok (2017), inspiring the development of a more portable motion control system: MIA.
• Apple orders Kira 1.0 and a track system in early 2017.
Engineering the Future (2022-Present)
• Cine Gear Expo June 2022, we unveiled the MP AR app, enabling instant motion control programming via iPhone & iPad.
• In 2023, we launched the Modular Track MK II, cutting down set up time and weight, and introduced Kino, a flexible 110V wall powered cinema robot.
• Nano Track for Kino and Vigo robots is released, in 2024
• February 2025, Evo is released our most affordable, compact, and portable cinema robot. We've also expanded MP Studio, now offering add-ons so users can customize their setup, while MP Studio Pro provides the full suite of tools for ultimate control.
